The owners of the historic Fort Al Jahili in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi placed their trust in the clay expertise of Claytec for the new interior design of the building. The company from Viersen has brought this ancient construction technique back to life. No other building material meets the modern world's needs for ecology and building biology like clay – for new buildings, too.

More energy, more performance – that's what the athletes who are brave enough to line up for the Dextro Energy Triathlon need. Last year the event made stops on four continents, including in Sydney against the breathtaking backdrop of the opera. The glucose power provided there also came from the Rhine district Neuss, from Dextro Energy.

When the soccer world turned its attention to South Africa this summer, it saw a good deal of the Lower Rhine region too: the membrane materials for the roofing and facades of the World Cup stadium in Cape Town (picture) and Johannesburg were made in Krefeld by Verseidag Indutex.

In Chile's Atacama Desert, 50 radio telescopes are tuning in to the history of the universe almost as far back as the big bang. The connection elements for the reflector panels, which are subject to extreme conditions at a height of 5,000 meters, were manufactured in the district of Viersen by Graeven Metall-Technik.

Burj Khalifa in Dubai is currently the tallest building in the world, soaring 828 meters into the sky. 12,000 people will soon live and work in this skyscraper. The stainless steel for the challenging facade construction was made by ThyssenKrupp Nirosta from Krefeld.

The rail companies in Greater London (and many other parts of the UK) rely on the seal of quality “made in the Lower Rhine region” when it comes to purchasing regional trains. The Siemens factory in Krefeld has alredy deliverd approx. 1,400 units to the island.

Alpha Ventus turns the harsh North Sea winds into electricity off the coast of the island of Borkum. ALSTOM Grid from Mönchengladbach provided the power transformer which collects and transmits the wind farm's elecricity to land.

A rescue flight by a Eurocopter helicopter in the French Alps. To make sure the pilots can depend on their aircraft at all times, Eurocopter also relies on material from the Rhein-Kreis Neuss: it uses special steel from Böhler-Uddeholm for the manufacture of the milled and turned parts.
